Can someone please explain what legal positivism is?

I'm in high school and I have an exam coming up for my law class. I learned this way back in the beginning of the year and I can't find my notes. I've been researching online but I can't seem to understand what it means? I also have to explain the difference between realist judges and idealist judges. any help would be greatly appreciated :)
